"Demo" Version of 8.01?!! I'm a 25 year+ register...RESOLVED

Post by buzzsmith »

Today, I was working on a simple stereo track edit and when i duplicated the track (so I wouldn't lose my raw edits in case of possible changes after the merge) I get this...

When I OK'd the window above i got this...

EDIT: To further check it out, the same windows appeared when I duplicated again just to see what would happen.

Give me your Yamaha C7 and I'll fix you up with a new copy...

Seriously, I'm sure MOTU will fix you up.

So it wasn't 8.02?
If it's 8.02 maybe you accidentally downloaded the demo version of DP instead of the regular update?
Or are you using DP on more than one computer? (I think you're allowed to install DP on two computers but only use one at the time).

No, I haven't downloaded 8.02 yet and it's only on one computer.

Maybe this is some code written in 8.01 (and supposedly inactive) in anticipation of 8.02 and the downloadable demo version and I just did some combination of events that triggered it.

Apparently not a real big deal. I continued working with DP as usual after dismissing the dialogs. I did do a repair disk and repair disk permissions shortly thereafter which I had planned to do anyway.

From the wording of it, I'd say that error is coming from a plugin, not DP (error messages tend to have the app icon of the parent app even if it is a plugin generating the error.) Maybe check the plugins on the track?

Maybe try adding a new instance of each plug in the project, and see if one in particular seems to result in that error

Could be. The only demo that I'm running is the Blue Cat Audio meter which will briefly stop functioning in demo mode and then resume...and the startup "demo message" when I first pull it up.

Yeah...that is an error from a third party plug being used in that session. Not an error originating from DP.

I would look at any and all plugins first.

Cool. I've been running it all day and no issues. I had just never seen that Dialog box before.
