GM Instrument

Post by mythicwave »

I just installed DP8 Windows and am looking for a simple General MIDI instrument to use. I have Finale 2012 installed on the machine and it has the Aria instrument with Garritan Sounds for Finale. It's a VST instrument. I have the same thing on Mac and can use it in DP Mac. But it's not showing up in DP Windows. So my questions are:

Does DP8 Win support VST instruments, and if so, why can't I see my Aria instrument?

What plugin architecture(s) does DP8 Win support?

What's a good simple GM instrument to use with DP Win?

Thanks,

Brian

I'm thinking maybe this is a path issue. Maybe DP is not finding my instruments in the path. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Not having a Windows environment, I can't answer but you might also try and ask over at the Finale Forum on the Windows side. I use Aria player in DP on the Mac and it works, as it does for you on the Mac.

Could be both a path and 32/64 bit issue. You need to set both the 32 and 64 bit paths for VST in preferences separately . If it's not showing in 64 bit after you set the paths, launch DP 32 bit and set the paths for VST. If the plug is only 32 bit, it should show up then.

It was a path issue. I didn't know about the "Additional VST Plugin Folders" preference since it's not on Mac. I added the folder for my Aria and Kontakt players and now it finds the plugins.

Thanks,

Brian
