I'm new to DP 4.6 and haven't ever had a computer based recording system. Is there someone in the LA area (I live in Valencia) who can spend a few hours to help me get up to speed? I'll pay whatever is reasonable.

Don't worry about being different. Just be really good and that will be different enough.

In addition to finding a real person I'd suggest you invest in an instructional dvd like http://www.macaudiolab.com/.
