MOTUNATION search does not recognise "usb"

Post by crispaudio »

Hi, am looking for information re connecting a traveler mk3 to a usb port but as the search function does not seem to recognise "usb" refining the search is nigh impossible as "+traveler +usb" returns all matches for "traveler" only as "usb" is ignored.

Can the term "usb" be added to the search terms please?

Or is there some other way to refine my search?

Thanks r

Searches must have four or more letters. You sometimes need to be creative.

I think the issue is that "usb" is recognized as a "common term" as it probably shows up so often. Words the appear often are not indexed. For example this would be helpful with words like "and at is we be are" etc. There's a threshold that can be set at which point if a word appears so many times it's considered a "common" word and not indexed for searches. I've changed that setting and am rebuilding the search index now. I think however I may have lowered it too much, so I might need to experiment with that setting.

I did a little bit more investigating. Apparently there's a bug with the phpBB software that if a word is marked as "common" (and this can happen after the first 100 posts) unmarking is apparently impossible. Somewhere along the line "USB" got marked as a common word and I've tried changing the common word threshold and rebuilding the search index to no avail. Nothing I can do here.

That's it.
I want a refund for every cent I have ever spent in support of this silly forum.

PM me for bank account details.

In the meantime, try this.
Cheers,

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Yep. Well I was also about to post this as a workaround.

Go to Google and search "traveler usb site:motunation.com"

That will do what you want.

I really like using the link below to search the forum. I think I found out about this from Fernando. I know it looks strange (to me, at least), but copy and paste the link below into your browser while logged into MOTUNATION. I use Safari and saved it as a Bookmark.

That's helpful... I may be able to build that into a button on the header of the site
