After so many different attempts, I think I've finally achieved mute/pre-fader buttons that I actually like...

I've been using DP for a very very long time (1.6) and I have yet to find "my" theme. I'm rather bothered by that. I sort of like the darker ones. Maybe they're easier on my eyes. Lately I've used MoTools and now None More Black, but neither one is quite right.

I wish I could afford to pay you to make a custom theme that meets what my eyes have been craving for years. But I'm not even sure I know what that is.

Interfaces: MOTU M2 and 8A (2.1 and 5.1 setups).

+1 Especially the part about not knowing what I want! I suspect it will be something quite unlikely. I like blues and blacks and purples, darker colors but I tend to use #4 Dark most of the time. If that came in blue I'd probably use that.

Have you all tried Andy's "Gotham" theme? I think it would be very hard to beat. If you bought access to ALL his themes, you'd be able to try a lot of beautiful work. I have a feeling that you'd find something you like. Coordinate it with a track color set, and you'll get another experience out of working in DP. I sure wish I'd had access to these 20-odd years ago. He's got some that would be perfect off-stage, others that fit a studio better, and at least one that looks like it was custom made for my working space. (which I built of maple)

Most 3rd party themes or mods that I've seen have been interesting, but not something I'd want to use all the time. Andy's themes are quite different that way; I can't imagine NOT having them. And they look better on my setup than the screenshots would suggest.

That is how we feel too. On drearier days we move from Warmer to Mellow. And when in full bright daylight mode love Gotham.

I'm looking at them. Gotham looks good. I'd like to try it out. Right now I'm kinda happy with None More Black, although it's far from perfect. The faders should be silver, or red or something other than black. When selecting white txt you get the OSX system highlight color, and any usable highlight color makes things unreadable. It's a nice theme with potential, but it needs to be refined.

But it's good on my eyes. Color and how it all interacts for the GUI experience is so important.
