Nanosampler and very simple samples

Post by jnewell1 »

Got a little problem. I want merely to put some solo string harmonics into a work, nothing fancy. I obtained a sample (a high cello harmonic - A5) and put it into nanosampler (it's in the correct aiff format). However, when it plays back, something has happened to the sound... it's being processed somehow. I can't get the original note and timbre. What is nanosampler doing to it, and how do I prevent this? Thanks.

They are the Philharmonia Orchestra samples that seem to be at 44100 sample rate and 32-bit.

I was on my iphone and couldn't write too much. My comment should have read:

What is the sample rate of the file versus the sample rate you are playing it back at (the sample rate for the DP project)?

That can account for being out of tune.

DP sample rate is also 44100. Here is a link to a shot of what I have in the nanosampler:

Any advice is welcome!

Well, I sort of got it to work. I changed the root pitch to A-2 from C-2, since a root pitch of A-5 did nothing, and wouldn't "stick" when I made the change. When I played the note, though, the MIDI track displayed the pitch of A minus 1. Interesting.

To make the note longer I tried looping, but that doesn't work. I'll try freezing the MIDI track and stretch the note duration.

I'm downloading SampleTank to see if that is helpful.
