This is strange behavior and I'm sure its operator error. But I need to put it to the forum. I recently had to do a complete fresh install of all software to a new SYS drive. I started with the boxed version of DP 7.01 and then downloaded the 7.24 update and installed that. When I was using DP 7.24 in the old SYS drive, I could always "select" or highlight multiple soundbites in one track and Command+M or "merge" those soundbites into one complete, continuous soundbite as a new file in the track (Sequence editor). Now in this newer install of 7.24, I "select" or highlight the soundbites to merge and instead of DP merging them together it takes the selected file and merges over top the first soundbite in the track and doesn't re-draw ore re-generate a new soundbite, but it looks like its just copying the first soundbite I selected and pasting it over top the others. In sound designing and exporting stems of audio I have always used this "Merge" to clean up tracks and make OMF files easier and less likely to be corrupted to the next user. Frustrating...
Am I missing some setup function here? Can't understand why the Command+M function changed from one instal to the next.
HELP!!!
Intel Mac 8-core, 32GB-memory, OSX 10.6.8, DP 7.24
I had previously changed the command for "Merge Soundbites" to "Command + M" in my old setup. In the new instal "Command+M" was just "merge". So I had to go back into setting up the commands window (shift + L) and swap the two shortcuts. presto. back to normal.
Sorry for the panic...
BTW- I received DP V 8.0 but haven not installed until I read all the feedback from you all. I have never had much luck installing the first version. I have always done better installing version 8.1 or 8.2
