828 mk3 hyb. heavy problems with win8pro/64bit

Post by Noisebuddy »

Well i don´t know if this problem has been ever adressed .....

First the specs of my system:
Quadcore Phenom II
4GB RAM
Win8pro/64bit
MOTU 828 mk3 hyb via USB

following problems appear on a regular base:

1.) MIDI is not working (with MIDI-OX, as soon as the Motu-device is used as MIDI-IO, the midiOX software crashes, same for the Elektron C6 sysex-tool). Also the MIDI-Thru-Feature does not appear in any menu

2.) CueFX-Software: following fails are listed below:
a) no interface recognized
b) interface recognized, but only the analog inputs are listed (although the digital inputs are activated in the audio-console-program)
c) interface recognized, but no display of any incomming signal
d) cueFX stops to interact with the interface
e) interface recognized, but inputs are splitted up to mono, which is simply not the case in my setup!!

3.) the Audio-Console will not allways show the correct configuration

4.) the audio-interface does not show up in my DAW (studio one), although i worked before withe cueFX-console, so a connection between the computer and the interface has been established

5.) when the interface shows up in the DAW, it sometimes produces some pops and cracks (with very generous choosen sample-times)

before i switched to win8pro/64 i used an old XP32bit system and everything worked fine

but since the move to win8 things got complicated

i´ve read that win7/64 seems to be a winner, but in my case it is too late and won´t buy another OS just for the MOTU, i would rather go for a complete hardware-solution

has someone similar experience?
has someone a solution for me?

i´ve allready uninstalled the drivers and installed it again, i used different usb-ports, just in case the problem is located there. I also disabled any virus-scanner and firewall but without luck

the hardware itself is functioning proper

i don´t have any explanation for this behavior but two things came trough mind:
1.) Win8 is somehow different from previous releases in terms of connectivity (and driver-architecture)
2.) the supplied drivers from motu are only optimized for win7

the motu-support, from what i´ve read via the web is not that helpfull

best regards

Robert
