I have just got the audio express and connected to my monitors using the spdif out
Is there a way to control the output -volume- on the unit .
Now i use the windows volume control .
Would it be better to connect the monitors- (m-audio dsm3) to the main output
thanks

Re: controlling spdif out
SPDIF level control can be done via CueMix. Chapter 9 my friend.
On the frontpanel you could call up MIX 3 and adjust the mix 3 level (SPDIF out).
It might be easier to just use the main outs as they are intended for the monitoring. On the Ultralite you can easily assign the monitor out to SPDIF but you can't do that on the Audio Express.

Thanks 4stripes
I've tried that , but moving the slider doesn't change the volume ?
On my pc keyboard i have a -sort of - volume control i can use , but i want to use the frontpanel knobs.

You need to select the Mix 3 as the output. You're probably adjusting the SPDIF input level for a different mix.wc2wc wrote:I've tried that, but moving the slider doesn't change the volume?

Then just use the frontpanel knobs, they're always there, nothings stopping you from pressing over to mix 3.wc2wc wrote:On my pc keyboard i have a -sort of - volume control i can use, but i want to use the frontpanel knobs.
Again, Chapter 9. It sounds like you haven't taken any step to understand how CueMix works.

Re: controlling spdif out
Hello 4stripes
Not offended , but I did read the manual and assigned the main output
to spdif (or mix 3)
I tried to add an screenshot image like you did
but it's only allowed to add image urls i think.
I have the spdif as main out out and see the led activity but cannot
change the volume - not in cuemix nor on the unit.
I can change the volume/pan etc when i choose a different output.
I have contacted motu with this question and a technician -Lorne - replied that the audio expres does not have this feature ; he recommended me the ultra lite,
and the shop was willing to exchange the products ;
So i'm just unpacking/connecting the ultra-lite .
Now i can monitor and adjust the volume of the spdif by assigning the master volume to the spdif output
Thanks 4stripes for helping out.
