Interesting James. That is on your 10.6.8 machine? What version of ircam tools ???
Yep 10.6.8. Not at home so can't tell you the IRCAM Tools version right now. :(

Well you were right. I updated iLok driver today and downloaded latest IRCAM Tools and they get past AU validation, but crash DP8 every time.

Turns out I had an older version of IRCAM Tools installed and they had turned "Demo" on me, even though I have an iLok with the license on my Mac. I may have installed Demo versions assuming they turned to registered versions after downloading the license. Seems it's a different installer.

Be interested to see if I could get the older installer and it might work. I installed from this version of the .dmg:

Flux_Audio_Plug-in_Ircam_Tools_Pack_I_MacOSX_Installer_(1.3.8.14511).dmg

So you're right... IRCAM Tools has a problem. :(

Okay... did some more troubleshooting and here's what I found:

IRCAM Tools 1.3.8c installer copies the following plugs into the AU Components folder:

Verb.component
Spat.component
Trax.component
TraxCS.component
TraxSF.component

The Verb.component and Spat.component DO NOT CRASH DP8

All the "Trax" plugs WILL crash DP8. If you remove the Trax components from the Components folder, you can at least run Verb and Spat.

I haven't tried VerbSession yet. For some reason it doesn't come in the IRCAM Tools installer?

Well apparently, I was not quite complete that time. Verb.component somehow failed AU validation the first time, but passed a reexamination, yet it too crashes DP when the splash screen appears and it starts gathering plug-in info.

Spat is the only one that loads but the GUI is so sluggish on my system to be nearly unusable. Oddly the demo versions seem to work. Perhaps it's an iLok issue?

At least MOTU is already working direct with ircam flux on this issue. Some other flux plugs have same issue if I am remembering correctly.

I have a work around James if you need for any existing Ircam projects you might need to open James. Email me if you wish.

Flux posted new installers on 11-8-12. Just tried them. They still crash DP8 in 32 bit mode on our rig. ANyone else try them?

Hi guys,

Have you found a solution to this problem. I still can't get verb session to work with DP 8 in 32 bits mode...

@labman, you mentioned you had a workaround?

Only works in 32 bit mode. Nicole @ motu gave me a line of code that you enter into Terminal to bypass crash errors to eh plug launch. But.... you have to do it EVERY time you boot DP. I can see if I can find it for you if you like.

We moved to 64 bit and no more trouble.

@labman

It would be great if you could send me that line of code! Here is my email: simon@prodsl.ca

Also, when you say that you since moved to 64 bits mode and you have no more trouble, do you mean you can use verb session in 64 bits mode with the line added to the terminal?

Thanks again for your help!

Much better than that simon. The 64 bit plugs seem to work just fine if run thru jBridgeM. So no code needed.

Sounds great. I was not aware of the bridge you're talking about. I'll check it out (as well as the line of code).

Thanks you so much for your kindness.
