The quad core machine just grinds to a halt if you try and run a project with movie in it on 8.01 whereas 7.24 was absolutely fine. On my 12 core Im having to unlock the movie in order to bounce the stems out. Not great really. Roll on 8.1..... :(
As above, it may be your video card. Except the .dv files not being read, I have no video performances issues, even in full screen with audio, plugs, etc.

BTW, my card is an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB.

I just upgraded my graphics to the ATI Radeon 5770 - I had to as I was upgrading to FCP X.

all I can say is ...wow!

I couldn't believe how much of a difference it has made to everything. Both my Dell monitors look sharper, more vibrant and everything is so much faster - browser redraws etc...

I can now run a full-screen full HD Apple ProRes file in DP, and a mastering session where I was displaying multiple plugins and meters that was struggling before is now fantastic. Izotope Insight's displays are really responsive.

Wish I'd done this sooner!!

Hi guys,

i wrote another thread recently asking how to authorize DP 7 on a brand new iMac. The reason is that DP 8.01 does not handle video well...DON'T go out and spend 1 cent on a new video card it won't help. I have the latest 12 core Mac PRO with the latest graphics card and as i just said my iMac is a week old and is the top of the line model... Lorne from MOTU wrote me that they know about this and are working on it.

Maybe the Pro Res codec thing that MLC suggested could help i would have to try this...

Best,

Claude

EDIT Hi MLC i just went into QT7 PRO and i don't have the PRO RES codec. Is this something you need to have Final Cut to have this codec installed on your Mac?
