I have an older, well maintained DAW with a MOTU 2408mkII, Super Micro PETDE6 motherboard w/ Pentium III 1399 MHZ(x2)and 4gig of RAM (Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 with recognizes 3 gig)and a Matrox dual monitor card. I use a separate hard drive for audio of course DMA modeII.
All drivers are up to date.
I have been using Nuendo 2 for about 10 years with no issues whatsoever even when running up to 48 tracks.
I replaced the motherboard, cpu and memory with new a feew years ago.
Just recently when recording a small acoustic project 6 to 8 tracks I am getting a loud pop and then the audio goes silent. I know this system inside and out since I have been using it so long and I cannot find what is causing it.
I have run a memory test, CPU test and hard drives test and find no errors.
Is there anyone that has had a similar problem as I am at a lose.
There seems to bve no problem with the 2408 or the pci card since everything is recognized in the system.
The reason I havn't updated is because to a newer DAW is that is has worked very well and I also have three TC powercore cards that work well with the buss speed.
Any suggestion anyone???

If the MOTU driver or other software function is not crashing, then it points to a problem in the MOTU hardware.
When the problem happens, what do you have to do to get it working again?
When it happens, you should check each IO to see if it is still getting in and out from your DAW.
