no more firewire

what can i do with two 896s when i can't replace my macs with fire wire 400? even used macs are getting scarcer and less reliable as time marches on. are there adapters?

Is DP ever going to have a pdf manual??? I can't read off paper. It doesn't scroll or have a search dialogue!

I've heard that the Apple TB to FW adapter works with 10.6.8, even though it is not officially supported. Anyone have any experience with this?
