I've written to MOTU and asked them to confirm or deny this. (whistles whilst rolling eyes)jmarcotte wrote:The french Distributor of Motu just announced V2.0 for december...

I may be wrong, but I believe the picture on the French site is the same one MOTU's been using to pitch v2 on their own page. So, there's reason to believe the interface look is legit at least.
To note: Early audio samples of MOTU SI showed up first on a French site, too, so there's some precedent to this French-scoop thang.
All I really care about is when I can have it for myself.

How about we stay on topic.
Let's avoid humor of a "political" nature on the board, okay? It's not as innocuous as more general humor and it is offensive to some. Thanks.

I agree with James on that one, When I started this post, i just wanted to help and maybe, give some informations to people who doesnt ( or can't ) read french websites. We are supposed to talk about music... and not blame or discriminate any nation! even stupid ones.... Now if the word French disturb anybody on this forum, I really feel sorry for you guys... But I won't write it anymore then ! No in fact, I will once again:
I am french... I haven't been offended, but I think it's really sad in 2005 to hear stuff like that on a forum dedicated to music....
Pour ceux qui me comprennent, Merci a ceux qui m'ont soutenu sur ce Forum, en esperant que MV2 arrivent avant la fin de l'annee comme prevu par le site!!

You guys are completely fricking LAME...
How about taking it to email if you're going to keep pissing at each other like a couple of teens. JEEZ!
Regarding M5 V2... If it drops in December, that would be a serious drag for people planning libraries that are formatted for V1...
Speaking of which, while I'd agree Mach 5, when it came out, was definitely top dog, it's just about the BUGGIEST piece when it comes to hardcore sample formatting/editting/implementation. I've worked with it on just about every conceivable system, and it's disappointing that the brains behind the software hasn't been able to fix a MULTITUDE of issues with it. Most people don't do much more than playback and very limited tweaking and whatnot. I'd be surprised if their QA dept does at Motu, to be honest.
I guess "whatever" is the thing to say, though, as Kontakt 2 is seeming to destroy, now in terms of editting and user preference/loyalty.

To my knowledge, they will be. There's been no announcement I know of declaring a switch or non-backwards-compatible upgrade of the UVI format, M5's current native format. In fact, MOTU press on M5 v2 leads me to believe that those complex sample formats (like Giga or EXS with keyswitching) will be easier to convert to UVI with all goodies intact.russhughes wrote:Are v1.0 libraries not going t be compatible then?Flare wrote:You guys are completely fricking LAME...

I'm sorry to hear M5 been such a bug-fest for Bootcut. I mean Flare (just f'ing witcha, man). It's been rock-solid for me since day one.
Hello,
First, to tell the truth, let me admit that I am French !!!!
And I'm living not far away from the French Motu distributor (a 15 minutes walk)
I'm 99,9 percent sure that UM Distribution is pretty close to Ultimate Sound Bank, the company who are developping the UVI engine (and, I think, created M5)
They have, also, a music retail shop, Univers Sons; (same adress as USB techsupport) and last August when I was naive enough to ask them which
soft sampler should I buy between Kontakt and Mach5, they told that Mach5 V2 "would be better than the NI Sampler,
and should be out by the end of the year".
FWIW
All the best
Ben

Just to set the record straight... two of my favorite piano composers are Satie and Chabrier. And to think they did all that without a computerBenD wrote:Hello,
