DP File Menu Weirdness...No Option to Save, etc...

Post by buzzsmith »

In my almost 30 years of using DP, I don't think that I've ever seen this.

No option to do anything under the File menu...

However, under the Digital Performer menu item, I do have a Quit option. When I clicked it, I got the "...unsaved changes..." dialog and saved that way.

Curious...

(The sequence was not in play, BTW, or were there any other processes going on that I was aware of.)

If you restart DP does it fix it? Sounds like the app is loosing track of the OS directory. I might have seen this once or twice over the years. Maybe just once, but it sounds familiar.

The usual Disk Utility suggestions apply : Repair permissions. Repair disk(s).

MLC:

As I was posting this, I left DP running to make sure the anomaly didn't correct itself over time, and then I wanted to check the Quit option that I mentioned.

Then I shutdown, let the Mac sit for about a minute and restarted.

The very first thing I did was repair permissions. Took about 20 minutes. The three main "culprits" were Java, Core Services and Frameworks. About 15 or so repairs for each.

Then I ran MacJanitor and Preferential Treatment. Got one error with PT.

Shutdown and rebooted and continued working for the rest of the afternoon.

I have not gone back to this particular edit file, but everything seems AOK right now.

Thanks...

Buzzy
