Hi, just got off the phone with MOTU support. I cannot save DP projects. I get the following error:
"An error occurred while writing to the disk. The file XXX was not saved. Unreadable data was encountered while reading the file. Try to save your file on another disk or folder, or with a different name."
Trashed all prefs, fixed permissions. Worked while I was on the phone with him, doing a "save as." Hung up phone - SAME ERROR on next save.
Right now I'm doing a reinstall. Any ideas what is happening? Maddening. I should note DP 7.24 worked fine for a few weeks and then this started today.
Thanks,
Italodisco

Have you run Apple Disk Utility to verify the disk?

Yes sir/ma'am. It said it was OK.
I'm having some luck now - these are old files and included an old plug-in that is long gone. I've had some luck writing now. I thought I was on the trail when I noticed if I deleted the (empty, but still named for the plug-in) instrument track and its aux in, it couldn't save. If I left it, it could save. But then a couple times it wouldn't save (same error) even if I left it.
Interesting path but not a reliable fix as of yet. Thanks.

Re: DP 7.24/OSX 10.8.2: Cannot save "An error occured..."
I encountered this the other day in DP7.24. It was an older project that use to be fine...I opened it up...made a few tweaks for a new use...and it would not save.
One thing I noticed...since it was an older project...it was using the SDII audio files and not the Broadcast wave I default everything to now.
Here is what I did to fix it. (Whether the SDII audio files are the problem or not).
I opened a new blank DP file. Made sure the audio format was set to Broadcast Wav, 24bit, 48KHz (For video specs). I then used the Load command to load in the previous file. It loaded everything in the sequence but on the load, converted all SDII audio from the previous file to the current format which was Broadcast wav. This new DP file then saved and worked just fine.
And that older file for whatever reason is basically a read only now. It will open and I can make changes but when I try to save it gives me that error and will not save. I would have to close the file without saving. So the load into a new blank, clean DP project seemed to give me a way to move forward.
