DP v8.01 and UAD v6.4.1 - Not Working

Anyone else tried running Universal Audio's new v6.4.1 beta in 64 bit mode in DP?

I just completed the install, and I receive the following error as soon as I try to load a UAD Plug-in:



Running DP in 32bit mode works fine however.

I think so. But I don't know for sure. Had some difficulty with that.

I ran through the steps located on UA's site regarding 64-bit Kernel confirmation. The linked apple.support instructions don't jive with what 10.7.5's system "More Info" displays.

For instance, the instructions say to choose 'About This MAC', then 'More Info', then the 'Software' tab. But, there is no Software tab. So I had to select "System Report" instead. From there, under "Software/Extensions" and ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin, it lists "64-bit (Intel): Yes".

The Apple Support tech I talked to said this was indicating that I was in 64bit Kernel mode, but I don't feel 100% confident that's correct. It may just indicate that the processor is 64bit.

If anyone knows how I can confirm for sure that I'm in 64-bit Kernel mode, I'd appreciate some advice.

This app will tell you if your Mac can boot in the 64bit kernel.
It also gives you the ability to always boot in the 64bit kernel.

Most MacPros from 2008 and forward will boot 64bit.
What year is your MacPro?
If you put these details in your sig we will have a better understanding of your system.

Unfortunately your Mac can't boot into the 64bit kernel.
That's probably why you got that message when you were trying to run UAD 6.4.1 in DP8.01 64bit mode.
You were hitting the 32bit 4gig limitation.
I haven't tried 6.4.1 yet but I suspect you might need to be in the 64bit kernel as well as DP8 in 64bit mode to get this to work and not hit the memory wall.

To verify this I'll suggest you call UAD tech support tomorrow,they're awesome! they will be able to tell you definitely if this is correct.
Maybe there's something we are both overlooking.

According to the Kernel switching app's website, the graphic symbol I get indicates:

"While your Mac is technically able to run a 64-bit kernel, this is not currently enabled by Apple."

So, because it's not enabled by Apple, does that mean the app won't be able to switch it over? Or does that mean I need a new MAC if I want to run UAD in 64bit?

As I said in the previous post your 2007 MacPro will not boot into the 64bit kernel.
I think you should call UAD tech support to see if there's something that's been overlooked to get this working on your present MacPro.
They might have a solution or you might need to run DP8.01 in 32bit mode.

Yeah... welcome to my world. I thought only MacPro 1,1 would suffer this fate, but apparently other models too?

Looks like MacPro3,1 is the cut off point. Everything below that just might have to play in 32bit land.
