Does the Mach5 recognize the 828 as an output device? (Is the signal quality of the 828 MkII better than my dual 1.8 G5?)
Thanks

MachFive needs a DAW host for output. So you need something like DP or Logic or GarageBand for it to operate properly.rwdillon wrote:Does the Mach5 recognize the 828 as an output device? (Is the signal quality of the 828 MkII better than my dual 1.8 G5?)

As for the signal quality of the 828 versus the G5, what is it you're wanting to do?
MacPro5,1 2012, six core 2 x 3.06, 10.12.5, Digital Performer 9.13, 40 gb ram, 828mkIII, 2408 mkII, MTP AV, Logic Pro X 10.3.1, Studio One v 3.2, Pro Tools 12.7.1
I'm currently using DP 4.5.
I recently purchased a 24-track Akai digital recorder and I want to copy the output of individual MIDI tracks (via a Roland XV5080) to the Akai.
Supposedly Mach5 and DP "play well" together and I want a high-quality signal to send to the Akai. (I'm not certain what kind of outputs by 1.8 dual processor G5 has.)
I was considering purchasing another G5 (so that I could use one of the new PCI-X audio cards) and then I remembered that I had an 858MkII.
The Roland has digital outputs. I'd like similar quality for the Mach5 samples. I was wondering if DP and Mach5 recognize the 828 so that I could send a high-quality signal of a Mach5 track to the Akai.

If you have DP you're set. With DP and the 828 your sample rates can go as high as 96khz. Record it all in DP (use MachFive within DP).rwdillon wrote:I'm currently using DP 4.5.
