Only songs with that particular VI had issues, and subbing Ivory in fixed it. AP was whatever the latest version is, as per NI's Service Center. Running in 32 bit.
Akoustik Piano used to come with its own interface, but that is very out-of-date. Now it's just a library that runs in Kontakt. If you're still using the stand-alone version of AP, you're probably getting crashes from it.

Oh yes, absolutely--I am still running the version I got with Komplete 5 (still have not quite forgiven NI for killing B4ii, so have not gotten around to upgrading). I was trying (not very clearly) to make that exact point, that sometimes older plugs even from top shelf developers can be problematic. This version of AP worked fine up through DP7, but it's finally failing in 8.

Got a significant update. I ran a RAM test (memtest) and everything checks out. No errors or issues. But regarding repairing permissions--I tried something that I've never done before, just as a test:

I shut my system down and then booted it up. Once booted, the first thing did was repaired permissions. Once complete (there were plenty of permissions to repair) I then shut my system down. I booted it up for a second time. I went to repair permissions and once again a whole list of permissions to repair.....!!!

Am I wrong in thinking that after I repair permissions, shut down and reboot, that all permissions should be in order....?

It is best to boot from the install disc and repair permissions from the utilities menu. In ML re-repairing permissions results in one bad, redundant permission for something called "Ruby" which is a known innocuous error.

I have not kept up with OS-related stuff the way I used to, but assuming it still works the way it used to, repairing permissions MAY cause other items to become permissions liabilities, so they may need repairing afterward. The most I've ever really had to do it was three times in a row. I don't think you have to shut down between times, but again, I don't keep up with these things now.

Using only the .mov seems to have alleviated the crashes. I would avoid .m4v for now anyways.

Unless you have to output to an external FW device using a .mov is 100% reliable in DP8.01.
