I’d like to understand if my MOTU Ultralite (1st gen) is working properly. What I’m noticing occurs both when connected to the computer and as a stand alone mixer
When using the 1&2 Inputs (mic/instr), I’m getting a signal even though gain/trim knobs are at zero. I went into the mixer settings; set the gain to Zero/Off, and I can still hear my mic and guitar. It’s lower in db of course, but audible. I first noticed this when connected to Digital Performer with my Input enabled track. I lowered my trim knob to zero but the track led indicator still showed a signal passing through. That’s when I decided to disconnect it from the computer and noticed it still happens.
Is this normal because these inputs have preamps and will always send a signal regardless of the gain/trim setting set to zero?
I’m using the mic/instrument jacks:
Input 1: microphone w/ 48v phantom on.
Input 2: acoustic guitar with active pickup. phantom is off, pad is zero
Note: This does not occur with the other remaining analog input jacks. Just these two mic/instr
Ultralite Inputs 1&2 Gain/Trim Zero, but still hearing sound
