A lot of my gear was ruined in Sandy, so after the physical rebuild of my studio I am considering this option until some kind of new Mac Pro arrives (and I can afford one!)
A MacMini, with 16 GB of RAM, connected via Thunderbolt to a Thunderbolt-to-PCI enclosure, such as...
http://store1.sonnettech.com/product_in ... cts_id=413
...housing a MOTU 424 PCIe card, connected to my trusty MOTU 24 i/o.
Anyone attempted or currently using this configuration to make their 24 i/o PCI based system work with a Thunderbolt Mac? Was also wondering how a thunderbolt chain that included the expansion chassis, a thunderbolt drive and a second monitor would want to be configured. (with one monitor connected as HDMI and the other utilizing Thunderbolt's Mini Display Port capability).
Thanks, m.

I think you better contact MOTU directly for a qualified answer before you buy this set up.

Unless MOTU has drivers in development, do not expect this to work. If there is a way, there are many users who would like to know....housing a MOTU 424 PCIe card, connected to my trusty MOTU 24 i/o.

I'd be one of those...mikehalloran wrote:Unless MOTU has drivers in development, do not expect this to work. If there is a way, there are many users who would like to know....housing a MOTU 424 PCIe card, connected to my trusty MOTU 24 i/o.
I need to decide about getting that TB to TB>PCI enclosure, or simply getting a Track 16. So far I'm leaning for the latter.

I have tried that. It doesn't not currently work as of OSX 10.8.4.
Motu support said that apple must allow the thunderbolt device to "see" the motu devices in apples software.

It has been rumored for a long time that drivers that would let this work are in development. A very long time now...
