828 Mk3 H not recognised by Windows XP

Post by Crystal Clear »

Hey guys

I'm trying to install the Motu 828 Mk3 Hybrid on my PC system running Windows XP SP3 using USB2.

I have run the installation disc as per the instruction manual but Windows XP isn't recognising the 828 and won't give me an option to select it for audio playback in the settings/sounds menu.

It is showing for MIDI but not for audio playback.

In the device manager it says "This equipment is installed and working properly".

I've downloaded the latest drivers and tried installing those as well as tried switching USB ports but nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Andy

You could try uninstalling the driver, then search the registry for MOTU keys and delete them. Reboot and install the latest driver and see how it goes.

Can you show us a screenshot of the Device Manager with the Sound section maximized?

It's also a good idea to update your motherboard bios to latest and install the latest chipset drivers for it too, both found on the manufacturer's site.

OK....so the plot thickens.

I can get sound direct from Cubase through the 828, but am still given no option to select the 828 in Windows for standard Audio Playback.

When I go to Settings/Sounds it says that there are no option for Audio Playback.

In the Hardware section however it shows the Motu and says that it is installed and working properly.

spoke to the Motu distributor who seemed to think it's the wave-driver that isn't installing.

Any ideas?

I realize this thread is a little older now, but I just got my Ultralite Mk3 last night and I'm having the same problem. I'd love to know if anyone has found a solution for this. It's pretty frustrating. ASIO seems to work fine, I can record and play back in my DAW, but I can't select the Ultralite as my primary windows playback device in XP. Anyone have this issue and resolve it?
