Rescan Audio Units Kinda Solved

Post by RobA »

Is there some new protocol for forcing DP 8.01 to rescan the audio units? Tried trashing Audio Unit Info Cache to no avail... Using OS 10.7.4 and running at 32 bit....

Problem is that Sound Toys and some of my Amplitube VI's (Fender, Hendrix, Metal) are not showing up any more....

Are any of those 32-bit plug-ins? Have you tried running in 64-bit mode just to see? Maybe try jbridge.

There is the Primary Eternal Plug-in Format that is set to AU by default. Perhaps switching it to VST to see what happens? Although, Amplitude passes mine every time, and it's a VST, but i'm in 64-bit mode. Yours don't show up in the list?

I'm having a couple of issues too. DP8.01 sometimes will not remember that a certain plugin is disabled, and tries to re-scan it. I have to hit skip, skip.... I can just trash it, just haven't yet.

I'm having the same problem with IZotope's Vinyl. DP will not scan it, nor see it, and yet it's a 64-bit AU, and VST and other apps see it. But Logic won;t see it either. Strange thing is Peak 6 sees it and uses it. Maybe it's the plugin.

Seeing that too but usually the first tome the plug runs. MAybe 3 or 4 attempts and then it seems to be happy. I can't remember which plug gave me that but I think it was the Kontakt 5 upgrade install.

The preferences for DP8 are in a different folder - something like /~user/Library/Preferences/com.MOTU.DigitalPerformer (don't have it in front of me right now). There are several caches 32, 64 VST, etc - trash the one you want rescanned.

Trashed the entire folder com.motu.MOTU Audio System and got it to rescan but it still won't see my Sound Toys plugs or any Amplitube other than Amplitube 3 on the rescan. Puzzled...

I don't know if this helps or if part of this is a 10.7 issue or a IK issue, some of their products just won't pass AU validation,Sampletank,SonicSynth2 and Sampletron will not pass AU inspection in my system,IK has said they will work in Sampletank3
I'm in 10.68
Using DP64bit and I have Izotope Vinyl.
As far as IK Hendrix,Metal etc....don't they now play within Amplitude3?
Have you updated by doing the "restore my gear" routine in Custom Shop?

MLC - It's these Waves plugins that I demo'd. I think the JJP or CLA collection. They're disabled but DP still wants to scan them sometimes. I'm just going to trash those plugins. That will fix that!

KG - Vinyl is seen by DP8 and works for you in 64-bit mode? Lucky you. I've got the Vinyl parts in their respective AU and VST folders, but neither DP8 nor Logic see it when in 64-bit mode. It's not even in the Audio Plugins prefs list.

In 32-bit mode Vinyl shows up as a MAS plug-in! I tried switching DP8 to use VST as the primary plugin format. Has anyone tried that? What a mess! Don't do it! During the scan time it had to lunch dozens of auxhost apps, and the final result was a joke. Half of everything was jbridged.

Perhaps it's the OS. Whatever the case, Vinyl does't show up in 64-bit mode as an AU, VST or MAS in ML with DP8.01.

Not a big deal. It's not an important plugin, although I like to use it for sound design purposes. So I set up a 32-bit plugin load for DP that has Vinyl as a MAS plugin.

Trivial but weird.

I got help from reading bottom of page 841 of the DP8 manual.
I re examined my SoundToys plug-ins by going into to the preferences menu under Audio Plug-ins.
