Plugins turn white

Post by synergy543 »

I'm running DP 7.2.4 with OSX 10.6.8 and many of my plugins will turn white after using them a while. They are still operating and sound OK but the plugin graphic display turns completely white. I have to re-load them to get the graphic display back and this is certainly a work flow buzz kill. This seems to happen most often with PSP Zenon, and Lexicon PCM Native plugins although maybe I notice it more with these because I use these quite a lot. I have seen the problem with other plugins as well. It doesn't happen all of the time but I haven't quite found a pattern yet.

Do any other users have this problem, or a suggestion on how to stop this annoying behaviour?

There were problems like this some time ago that resulted from not having your display options set to "millions of colours", but your setup seems a bit newer than that. Even so, it can't hurt to start by updating to DP 7.24 and OS 10.5.8. Both are free, and both are better than what you have.

Huh? He's on SL and you're suggesting he drop back to Leopard? He is already on DP 7.24 and you're suggesting he move to DP 7.24? And you're calling these updates?

These are not helpful comments.

My suggestion: Reinstall DP. Check for OS updates. Repair permissions. Reset PRAM.

Also, take any suggestions you get on the internet with a grain of salt.

I see DP 7.1 and is 10.5.6 in the signature. Right now. What do you see?

I saw the post on Tapatalk which doesn't have a sig but regardless of the sig, I read what he posted, which states the OS & DP version.

I just updated my signature info which maybe caused the misunderstanding over specs.

Still, nobody else has the problem of these particular plugins (PSP Zenon and Lexicon PCM Native Reverb) turning white? If not, then that's slightly encouraging as there must then be a problem specific with my system that I might be able to correct.

I sure hope its not a problem with the plugins themselves as I know the lead engineer, Michael Carnes has left Lexicon.

Maybe you're scaring the plugs with your audio?

Maybe  ...

Although it seems more likely that we're scaring away other posters with irrelevant discussion (my bad for not updating my sig first :? ).

Well, here's what it looks like:

I don't think people are scared of posting. It seems your problem is fairly unique. Have you searched the board and the Internet for similar posts?

Yes, which brought me here. There was a mention of this in an earlier post although it didn't give me any leads as to the problem.

I've seen this in a couple of plugs that don't redraw correctly. If you drag the plug window off to the side, can you find remnants of the actual plug window under the DP window? If that's the case, then the only way to fix it (in my case) was to contact the developers and have them offer a fix.

Thanks cuttime. Its good to know the world is not disappearing only for me. :)

I just found a more recent update (V1.36) for the Lexicon PCM Native plugin which I installed as that was the one that seemed to have the most trouble.

For a few minutes so far it seems to be behaving so maybe that solved the problem although there was no mention of this in the update history. :?

Keeping my fingers crossed....maybe this solved it? :woohoo:

My memory is fuzzy, but as I recall, the plugs that gave me this problem were Audulus AU, and some TAL plugs. Both were fixed in later versions.
