Highlighting 2 Mono Tracks (Exact Length) for Bouncing

Post by wpzad »

I have DP 5.13. I'm working on a Christmas play with pre-recorded music. The music is panned hard left and the vocals hard right. I've exported de-interleaved and imported again so I can edit where the kids in the play have their solo spots instead of the pre-recorded vocals. The challenge I'm having is the tracks end in the middle of musical phrases etc. but will play seamlessly from one track to the next in iTunes. One song might consist of 3 tracks. So after my edits what I've been doing is changing the BPM's so the end of the tracks line up with a measure, zoom in make more finite changes in the BPM then drag over the 2 racks till I'm back at the beginning and then bounce. Pain in the butt. Is there a way to simply highlight both tracks (exact length) like when you click on a single audio track and the audio file highlights?

Yes. It's easy if I am understanding you.

If you click-drag above the top track and move down, it will highlight the entire track - keep moving down and the next track will highlight and so on.

To edit, start below the lowest track you want, click-drag and move up through as many tracks as you are wanting to edit, then drag right or left as you need. This highlights the edited portion of as many tracks as you grab this way.

... or ... Select the area you want to bounce or select initially. Hold the command and shift keys and use the arrow down (or up) and the same exact selection will be made the the subsequent (adjacent) tracks.

You're welcome, but I'm not awesome. I learned the trick by asking, just like you - so that makes YOU awesome for asking. I read your question earlier but didn't understand exactly what you were asking until Mike answered you, so Mike is awesome too!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you as well. Theater is my first and foremost love and I'm happy to help you get your play in shape.

I didn't know that one either. Thanks!
