MOTU has a firmware update for the 828mk3 hybrid to v1.0.1
wonderful, ive been waiting for a firmware update, it's there if you need it
the updater isnt working for me, Windows 7 64-bit detects the MOTU, it always does, sound works, but the updater says it is not detected, ok so im thinking i must be doing something wrong with putting the MOTU into update mode
firewire is disconnected, usb connected, MOTU is off, i hold the page knob in, i turn the MOTU on, ive tried releasing the knob when i see the boot version, ive tried keeping it down, but the updater app just doesnt detect it, ive 'run as admin', ive put it in XP SP3 mode, ive restarted of course, ive reset the MOTU to factory defaults, i just dont understand why this MOTU isnt being detected and im unable to update
ive even tried updating from another PC with MOTUAudio installed with the same result, why wont my MOTU go into update mode, or is it? is the 828mk3 supposed to indicate on the display that its in update mode?, because it doesnt and im following MOTU instructions from the ReadMe file to the letter....
"1.Turn off the device.
2.Disconnect the FireWire cable from back panel if it is connected.
3.Connect the device to the computer by USB.
4.Press and hold the Page knob on the front panel, and turn on the device.
5.Release the Page knob when the bootloader version number appears on the LCD.
6.Open the firmware updater program, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the update."
sounds easy, but its not working here, anyone have any ideas what im missing here?

Re: MOTU 828mk3 hybrid v1.0.1 firmware update issue
On my Traveler (different button to use), I hold the Cursor button in while powering on and immediately it says it is in update mode.
See if the same kinda thing happens for you with the Page button.
A few other hints at things are:
1) Disable all antivirus and firewalls
2) Disconnect all other USB devices that aren't necessary to perform the update (game pads, printers, keyboard if you have old-skool PS/2 to use, etc...)
3) Make sure you're using USB 2.0 and not 3.0
4) Close all other programs not needed. Everything in tray, use Task manager if necessary etc...
5) Instead of running the update software normally, right click it and choose "Run as Administrator".
6) Update chipset drivers to latest from motherboard or chipset manufacturer's website.
7) Hope for the best.
