How does one thoroughly remove DP 8.01 to go back to 8?
Due to issues with copying and pasting plugs in no longer working in 8.01, and issues with syncing in VE Pro which were NOT in 8.0, I wish to go back to 8.0.
I am now at 8.01.
Also, does anyone know the procedures for a DEEP clean out of DP 8.01?
I want to go back to 8.0 and I am using the app itself, (which I saved). But the sync issues with VE Pro remain, (they were not there in DP 8.0) so I am guessing there has been a deeper under-the-hood change that I need to thoroughly remove to go back to DP 8.0.
By the way, Vienna has confirmed to me that nothing has been changed in their recent update to warrant sync going out in DP 8.01, thus, it is most likely a DP issue.

Previous versions of DP have an uninstaller. I haven't checked 8 but would be surprised if it wasn't there. Run the installer for 8.01. When you get to install, you should see uninstall on a drop down menu by clicking on the right. I would run both 8.01, then 8 if it will run, then reinstall 8.
It will surprise me if this turns out to be your problem but, it's certainly worth a shot. Good Luck.

Well, before going to 8.01, I had proper sync with Vienna Pro 5 and the loop based instruments inside it.mikehalloran wrote:Previous versions of DP have an uninstaller. SO I don;t see why going back to 8.0 won;t work.

If you do this, please don't come back to complain about the bugs in 8.0 that were fixed in 8.01, and there were many. Also, I hope you are writing MOTU about the problems you find. It was inevitable that many little details would be broken in the first Cocoa versions of DP. There were just too many of them for any programmer to keep track of and duplicate exactly in new code. Only if you do your part with MOTU are they going to get fixed.

Correction - I see no uninstaller on either the install CD or the 8.01 updater. This is an oversight that should be corrected. So, if Tech does tell you how to uninstall, post it here.
I have had two occasions where a complete uninstall and reinstall fixed plug in issues - DP couldn't find them. OK, it was back in DP 5.13, but there are times when it does fix the problem.
Really, these threads should be merged.

Or, you can restore to 8.0 via Time Machine. You don't have to restore the whole drive - you can do one program only. Go back to when you had 8.0, select it and you'll be able to restore it only without affecting anything else. It will ask if you want to keep the new version as a copy. Click No.
One of the many reasons to use TM.
