sync

Post by digging90650 »

hey all, i haven't been able to do anymore testing but i remembered some points that might shed some light on stuff.

DP wouldn't sync to code after 12:00:00:00 when i was using smpte from the 828 but it also wouldn't sync to internal clock of 828 after 12:00:00:00 either. however it did sync to internal clock of powerbook after 12:00:00:00.
this definitely points to possible hardware/firmware bug as someone pointed out in one of the postings.

as far as shifting start times...someone pointed out the problem with that in another posting. when you go to conform it to picture you're almost completely lost because the stamps are all wrong. you could go in and assign a new timestamp to each file but when you're tracking 8 in and you've got tons of files...that's alot of work.

someone else was discussing chunks and that sounds like a possible good way of working around all this. i haven't messed with chunks enough to fully understand them personally.

it would be best if we didn't have to come up with a 'work-around' because seriously, work-arounds are inconvenient ways of gettting around problems that shouldn't actually happen.
but as we all know computer hardware and software are full of bugs until the developers take the users findings into consideration and try to fix the problem at the core level.
i hope motu looks into this...i haven't thrown them a message about it though so who knows.
