Hello.
I've been setting up a slave computer running Logic to play DV videos smoothly (since DP8 is maxing out my CPU when using external video)
So far everything syncs up pretty good through MTC (with MIDI interfaces).
I'm hitting a wall when it comes to outputting MMC from DP so I can scrub with the wiper.
Will DP allow me to do that as Pro Tools does, the book explains well how to slave DP to MMC but I don't get how to output so I can work frame by frame with external (slaved) computer.
Thank You
Output MMC from DP to slave computer

Re: Output MMC from DP to slave computer
You can do it...but you have to do it via a hardwired MIDI cable...not over a network (in case you may have had it set up that way).
Magic Dave confirmed to me that DP cannot send out MMC commands via a networked port...only via a hardwired MIDI cable.
In the OSX audio/MIDI setup...check the "MMC box" in the MIDI channel setup of the device you have set up there.
On the slave computer...select that MIDI cable input to receive both MTC and MMC from that MIDI cable. In DP...because this box is checked in the OSX audio/MIDI setup, it will be an MMC option in the MMC setup menu.
So...the key is to have it set in OSX first....then DP will see it as an MMC possibility. But it has to be an old school cable connection and hardware MIDI output device...not networked MIDI at this time. Magic Dave told me he would add MMC over networked ports to the "feature request list" when I last asked him about it.

Re: Output MMC from DP to slave computer
Thanks Brian,
I did what you told me and I'm over a hardwire MIDI cable, however, what I don't understand is that the manual says to enable MMC in the MIDI Machine Control panel, when I do that, DP8 put itself in slave mode and the transports don't work.
I want to make DP the master and host the video on a second Mac (with Logic playing the video).
I must be missing something.
Thanks
