who cares what number they put in their future feature request thread...

lets hear what people want.

its not like MOTU if they did actually like an idea they saw here would veto it cos it didnt match their next update increment ??????

I liked the import session data suggestion that the OP put in..

I've been asking for soundbite gain maths since about version 5.1 ( maths means adding or subtracting values as opposed to the set the bite at a certain value ( ie -5dB )

they did put one of my feature requests into this release tho.. HD video support....
you can thank me now if you like :P I accept donations via Paypal if you want to buy me a beer to show me your appreciation

sorry I cant go to DP8 yet tho,, this rewire bug would affect me.

Yeah, let's just throw crap at the wall and be as non-specific as possible. I mean, what's the difference between DP 6 and DP7? Not much. And DP8? Just another name and a pretty face... I mean, everybody's using the latest bootleg copy anyway, aren't they?

We don't need no stinkin' specificity.

@MLC - do you have any feature requests? there's a forum section for off topic rants and raves you know :D

did some body mention the ability to assign multiple aux on the mixing board?

we get told alot to create a project and load data - that can be real painful on 124 channel session.. assigning aux etc.. send A B C D etc... of course you can set up base channels and duplicate..

I still would like to see the request I made for version 8 - FX and specifically EQ's being able to integrate into the consolidted window..

Martian, I think one point (that is not getting across), is that we have had a zillion wish-list threads already. They're all sitting there for anyone to look at. It's hard to imagine any feature that isn't in there somewhere already.

There may be a good time to start yet another one, but is this it? Shouldn't we at least see what we have first?

I'l like to see some really robust noise reduction plugin(s), both in DP and on the board.

if you guys don't like this thread....here's a simple solution: stay off it and keep your snarky and childish comments and digs at other members to yourselves. it's as simple as that.
i'm reading all these posts and wonder how any of us/you are actually making music with all the time posting crap that has nothing to do with the Question/Topic.

in the meanwhile ... I'm enjoying the other poignant comments regarding this topic...regardless of if I named it "9.0" or "8.1".
Maybe i misspoke, may be premature, may be out of line (IYO), may should've been "8.1" ... or it may be just fine the way it's phrased...REGARDLESS...my whole point of posting this topic was to see what other members were hoping for in 8 that didn't have in 7 and were hopeful in the next version...which i named "9" ... so all you unhappy posters....relax...it's just a number...the heart of the message is still in tact, which is, "What Would You Like To See In The Next Version Of DP?"

Yes, that's the question, isn't it, yet some of us do manage to squeak out a living. Some folks call that multi-taksing. Others call is too challenging to understand.

But wonder is your name, after all. Some wonder; others wander. And some of us just get on the path and move forward.

No doubt you and your +1 buddies will view this as a snarky response and there's no wonder there.

Check the big red box called 'Forum Rules' at the top of every page. ("It is NOT for...feature requests" etc.)

This thread belongs 'MOTU Theoretical Discussions, Gripes, Petitions & Off Topic'.

Buy yeah, WAY TOO SOON! Do you realize that the guys at MOTU had to reprogram DP8 from the ground up? Seriously, adding one new feature would have been a feat of pure amazement. I have my wishlists too, but we all knew that DP8 wasn't going to have much in the way of new content, just improvements to what's already there.
That sounds like the seller’s problem, not the buyer’s. It’s a $200 upgrade every time, not something they do out of the goodness of their heart. For my repeated $200 purchases I have a long list of things I’d like to see.

The sequence window solo just needs to happen already. For that matter all the arbitrary differences between what I can do in the Seq vers Mix windows like selecting tracks, etc.

Is scroll wheel zoom in there yet?
Vari-speed time stretch?

Looking forward to DP 8 and seeing what pleasant surprises are in there. It just keeps getting better.

I've had this going for a while, and I think it actually gets reviewed. I'll add more to it as I see things here that I like...

Well, as the big thing in DP8 is 64bit and Windows support (and new plugs), that shouldn't have come as much of a surprise...

What I think will happen is:
As the feature set of DP8 probably was set by NAMM in January, and most of the time after the initial 'spring' release estimate has probably gone towards getting the Windows version ready, the programmers not working on that and/or fine-tuning the Mac version have probably kept on working on new features.
So, I believe a 8.1 with new features will come fairly quickly, maybe being shown at NAMM 2013?.

I think DP8 will follow the pattern of DP7 with a 8.1 and 8.2 adding new features (+ smaller service updates). The reason for that is, releasing a new payed upgrade too soon will probably turn off new Windows users, especially if there turns out to be issues with the Windows version.

Well, that's my wild guesses for the future of DP8...

+1 on noise reduction plug in DP . . . ever since my SoundSoap stopped working a couple of years ago (for reasons which I can't entirely explain), I haven't found anything that I totally like. This would be a great addition with the other included plugs that get used a lot.

BTW, I could do without the trombone solo. LOL!
Funny you should say that.

Fact: My father, who checked out just before Katrina in '05, played trombone in a traveling circus band with a 10 year old trumpet player named Harry James.

The original photo was lost in the storm, but looked very similar to this...Image

Ok, another trombone solo...

Maybe it is too early; definitely the wrong forum (a mistake I've never personally made  ), but it seems like wish list threads elsewhere on the wild web provide users with fairly constructive outlet...
