The DP8 wish list was generated when DP 7 was the most currently available.

It's discouraging to see users asking questions or making suggestions get hosed. Really seems uncalled for if this place is indeed a MOTU community...

Wait until the Windoze crowd arrives as they earnestly strive to learn DP...

The DP8 wish list didn't start when DP7 was on the .0 release.
If my memory serves correctly it was started around the time of 7.2.
I've never seen a perfect fully realized .0 release of a DAW & IMO this is actually a great .0 release and considering its a total rewrite with new features and plugs,64bit implementation,VST support and it will also be cross platform with Windows support, all told its not a minor update!
There's nothing wrong with wanting new features or improvements & of course we all want the best DP possible but I agree it's way too early to have a DP9 wish list, maybe a wish list for DP8.1 or DP8.2 would have been received a with a bit more enthusiasm.
It wasn't the suggestions that got hosed or criticized as much as it was the context and timing of the suggestion.

I still need to purchase DP8, so this would definitely be premature for me.

Something tells me we will be nicely surprised, not only with a refined DP8.01 version, but with some newer and unexpected features (just like it happened throughout the DP7 versions).

Frankly, if you want this thread to be taken seriously, it would make more sense if you change the title to DP8.1 wish-list, like you suggested. But I suppose a compiled list of bugs or things that need to be fixed takes precedence?

Same question though. Now you've seen DP 8.00, what new feature do you want that you didn't want when DP 7 was the most recent version?

Sure. Just copy the DP 8 wish list into it, and we're all done.

Feature requests are fine. I just honestly think it's a bit disingenuous
to be requesting another version of DP when the current version is still a ".0". Sorta like saying thanks for the Corvette you gave me for my birthday,
but I was hoping it would be black instead of silver.

Frankly, none of the features you put on your wish-list are deal-breakers for me. There are workarounds for all of them that you can employ right now.

You guys beat me to it: I'm still compiling my 8.01 wishlist... though that isn't very long.

Buy yeah, WAY TOO SOON! Do you realize that the guys at MOTU had to reprogram DP8 from the ground up? Seriously, adding one new feature would have been a feat of pure amazement. I have my wishlists too, but we all knew that DP8 wasn't going to have much in the way of new content, just improvements to what's already there.

And yes, DP9 will probably come very quickly, like DP7 did, and probably with a boatload of new features. But let's relax and enjoy this phenomenal update for what it is.

You're right and I agree with what you say although I consider these features we ask for, not as a bunch of complains to MOTU but rather as answers to an hypothetical MOTU survey on what improvements we would like to see in the next DP update.
Something like UA's survey I received in my mail this morning.

Meanwhile I do appreciate MOTU's efforts in giving us DP8 which I think is the evolution to an already excellent DAW.
