828 MKIII Hybrid BSOD in Win7 64

Post by Nhanyaro »

Hi, I'm Ñáñaro from spain. I have an 828 mkIII hybrid and recently adquired a laptop (Asus K55VM wit Win7 64) and i've installed the last drivers i've found in MOTU's web (4.0.55333) I use mainly Sonar X1 and Cubase. I've also a MOTU microlite installed on the same computer, but it never gives me any problem.
Well, every time I open Cuemix FX i've got a pretty BSOD. It's almots impossible to me to use with Sonar. Sometimes, I can 'open' the 828 if first I open Cubase, then the Cuemix FX, then i close Cubase and afterwards i open Sonar, but it's not always happens. In fact, sometimes it crashes as soon i connect the usb cable, and sometimes there's a led on in the analog input 6 just before the BSOD. Sometimes I can use it if I starts the 828 after Sonar is running, but not always happens, and there's no stability. (it crashes after a random time os use)
I've tried to install an older version of the drivers and also updated my bios, but it no solves the problem.

Any possible solution? I've found this thread but i don't know if it's valid to my computer: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=43477
I've compressed the minidump contents in this zip:

Thank you very much, and sorry for my english.

Update it to latest from Intel.com.

Enjoy.

Best to also update MOTU drivers to latest as well:

Sorry if this sounds too simple or dumb, or if you have already tried - but there are known industry wide issues with the backward compatibility with the USB 3 spec.

Yes it IS supposed to be fully compatible, but in the real world it is not.

It is certainly an issue for the MOTU USB which will cause BSODs if it is connected to a USB 3 port. It loads up the drivers okay, it is when you try to use Cuemix or the Audio Console apps that it crashes...connect to a confirmed USB 2 and you will have no issues.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment. My Asus K55VM has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port. I've tried to connect the 828 in all ports but I've the same BSOD. If I use the 2.0 port, I have the same problem with the same usb3 driver (according to WinDBG) :?
I've tried to update de driver from Intel site but it not recognise my system, and the Asus site said that my installed drivers are the latests ones.

That's odd that it is reporting the same USB error when reporting on a USB port....afaik usb3 drivers only work on dedicated usb3 ports..a usb2 port should be using the default W7/chipset driver....

Yes, it's very rare. According to the device manager I have both drivers USB2 and USB3, but the last minidump informs that iusb3xhc.sys fails (which I understand is the USB3 driver, unless it is not shared with the 2.0)
I'll try to 'disconnect' the driver 3.0 to see what happens
Thanks for your interest.

Try updating the motherboard bios to latest as well as any USB 3.0 firmware offered, too.

Could also be a MOTU issue itself, but probably doubtful on this.
