im running an 828mk3 and a imac 10.6.8. im also using logic pro 9 . i'm trying to record a guitar track in logic using logics guitar rigs. i cannot play at full volume because me signal clips. to get a nice low signal my volume on my guitar has to barely be on. i refer to books and they all tell me the same thing, turn the mic pre amp gain knob down to adjust the level. this is not possible on the 828mk3. some one tell me what i should do?

Re: please need some help
Just to be clear, you are using Guitar Rig as a plugin in Logic? If so, you probably have to set the levels in the Guitar Rig plugin or application, or in the Logic channels that are generating or recording the signal. My bet is the signal routing is happening entirely within Logic, and will not be affected by the controls on the 828.
You might want to post the question on a Logic forum such as http://www.logic-users-group.com
If you are outputting the guitar sound and recording with a mic that is plugged into the Mic inputs in the 828, then the front panel level control will definitely be able to trim he signal to a usable level. You can also use Cuemix to do the same thing.

We need to know were your signal is clipping. If it's clipping at the input then it has nothing to do with the plugin. If that is the case, you are right, lowering the mic input gain has no effect on the Instrument inputs. If you are clipping the Instrument inputs there are a few things that you can do. Try inserting a stomp box (like a compressor or gate) with level control between guitar and 828 or get a DI box that would allow you to use the mic input and either apply the input pad or reduce the mic gain.
