hi all,
I need some help with my MOTU Microbook.
My situation is as follows:
1) I own this headset http://en-de.sennheiser.com/pc-360
2) I want to plug in my headset microphone and headphones into my motu microbook.
3) I plug microphone into the 3.5mm stereo line in on the back. Then I plug the headphone 3.5mm line out to the front.
4) You think I can get it to work ? nope and I dont know why.
Could someone please give me step by step noob instruction on how to activate the headset microphone and headphones would be greatly appreciated.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated. thankyou.

Re: MOTU Microbook Need Help in Regards to 3.5mm Line Out /
quick update:
headphones are working , it was a case of the "monitor level" being too low.
Was just a bit confusing because my speakers were pumping loud on the same monitor level , but was barely audible on the headphones , so just had to turn it up alot.
However I still can not get the microphone to work , any ideas ?
thankyou

That's a stereo line input on the back, the microphone will not work, and there is no gain control anyway. You will need to get an adaptor to use the Mic input on the front.

thankyou for the reply , greatly appreciated.
I understand what your saying.
So to update my situation , I got a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter and I now have my headset microphone plugged into the Mic1 input on the front , phantom power & Pad power is off by default.
It does not seem to be picking up any signal though.
I browse all the meters for the "Mic" and no signal is being detected anywhere.
Should pad or phantom power be activated for this headset microphone ?
thanks so much

Definitely not phantom, but make sure pad is off too.
Um, different MOTUs have different options.
Play with trim and/or boost if you have those too.
Make sure the bus output is set correctly for where you want to hear the mic level.
Check on Windows audio settings for the "Default Communication Device".
If the adapter you got is stereo, try a mono.

Re: MOTU Microbook Need Help in Regards to 3.5mm Line Out /
hi guys , I have tried everything suggested so far & im still having no luck getting the mic to work.
So here is a update of my situation:
1) I downloaded and installed newest drivers. Upon installation I was greeted with "Select the following products to be installed"
- Firewire / USB 2 Audio
- PCI 424 Audio
- Microbook
I only selected the "Microbook" , should I have selected "Firewire / USB 2 Audio" aswell or not ?
2) I installed the latest driver , Upon opening Cuefx program it automatically updated my motu firmware.
3) Everything looking good but I still can't get the mic to work.
Here are some pictures of my cuefx , if you would me to show any other parts of the program just tellme which bit specifically.
Inputs:

Mixes & Device Setup:

One thing I should mention here is that I am unable to select "Balance and Width" for the "Mic" channel in the "Mixes" section.
When I click them simply nothing happens.
Mixes:

Outputs:

Windows Volume Mixer:

Windows Recording Devices:

Windows Playback Devices:

The only other thing I can mention , Is that the Motu Recording Devices do not show up under the "Windows Volume Mixer Panel"
With my mic plugged in, both the windows "recording devices" and the motu cuefx program is getting no mic signal at all.
Any ideas ?
