"Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
I know that this is very minor compared to some of the other 8.0 issues, but thought I'd mention.
I took Radiogal's advice and opened the package contents of 7.22 and copied the Themes folder to another drive with the understanding that the install of DP 8 was going to overwrite that file (or point to a different folder, perhaps).
After the DP 8 install (which I'm not going to really use for a while), I placed the copied DP 7.22 Themes folder back into the DP 7.22 package contents but it's inactive.
The only theme that I can use is MoTools which is what I had to begin with. They are all grayed out including MoTools, but I do still have that theme active. I did notice, quite by accident, that when pulling up the Trim plug it's now a pleasant shade of dark gray as opposed to the dark blue that it used to be.
Also in the Digital Performer>Preferences>Themes it's showing all of the themes including the 8.0 ones. Under the heading "DP Version" it displays either 7.22 or 7.22-8.0.
So, somehow DP 7.22 is looking at a different (but inaccessible) Themes folder than it once was.
Not a really big deal, but perhaps worth noting.

I do now see that the new 8.0 Themes folder is locate in a different place...
My Name>Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>MOTU>Digital Performer
Still don't know exactly why DP 7.22 is referencing this newly created path...??

Not so sure about that, Buzzy. My 8.0 themes are still where they always were. Of course, my DP7.2 themes are replaced with DP8 themes, but the folder they were in is the same, so my AmpGUI themes are still there.

So, Shoosh, you're saying that when you switch back to 7.22 (or .24) you still have a complete choice of Themes? Mine are all grayed out and not click-able.Shooshie wrote:Not so sure about that, Buzzy. My 8.0 themes are still where they always were. Re: "Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
Just download this archive and copy the older version themes into the Themes folder.
http://motunation.com/files/DP7-Format-Themes.zip
I renamed the themes adding "DP7 " as a prefix, so you can just copy these into your Themes folder and they will be available to DP 7.24 without overwriting newer versions required for DP8.

Re: "Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
No, just that the themes are still in the same folder where they were before. I haven't gone back to DP7 since I upgraded. I probably won't; I decided to commit to DP8 and just stay there unless things get nasty, but they haven't gotten nasty at all. In fact, other than the keyboard problem, I'm in a whole new world of DP, and all is well. Using Andy's temporary theme fixes, I've even got my old theme back.buzzsmith wrote:So, Shoosh, you're saying that when you switch back to 7.22 (or .24) you still have a complete choice of Themes? Re: "Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
For the record, this works perfectly! You just add James' renamed themes above into that folder, and when you're in 7.xx, if you go to prefs and look at themes, ALL the themes will be in there, but the DP8 themes will be grayed out. The renaming is super important, because the the old themes we had in 7 are in DP8 also, but they were ported over to 8 and will not load into DP7. In DP 7, only the renamed versions of MoTools, Producer, Plasma, etc., will be selectable. What's really great about all this is that when DP8 gets a little more solid, I can go back to it without having to reinstall.James Steele wrote:Just download this archive and copy the older version themes into the Themes folder.

Thanks again for that download James, saved me a lot of headache!

Re: "Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
Thanks! I just have one question.
There is a folder in the DP 7.22 package contents named Themes and yet another for 8, I'm assuming, I believe in the Library folders.
At gig right now, so where does this folder go?
Thanks, again.

I'm not aware of a theme folder inside the app's package itself. Not that it doesn't exist; I just do not know of it.

I think you're right Shoosh, that's the path I used.. unless there is something different between 7.22 and 7.24

Re: "Lost" DP7 Themes after installing DP 8
Yes, that is what is/was confusing.
Radiogal posted somewhere about where the 7.22 Themes folder was located and that is where I found it. Clicked "Show package contents" on the 7.22 app and within that folder was the Themes folder.
I copied it to a different drive and, after the 8 install, moved it back to that location but 7.22 was not seeing it. It was referencing the new Themes, but I couldn't select any of them. It did leave my current choice alone (MoTools) so at least I wasn't blinded by the default white.
As I mentioned in another thread, I think I'm just gonna go for it with 8 so this is now even more inconsequential.

Re:
And yet… there may be more consequences. DP8 isn't perfect, and I do tire of rebooting it when the silly keyboard/menu focus problem occurs. So, I can't recommend that everyone throw caution to the wind and jump in. But I've been working in it, and despite the occasional reboot, my workdays feel as productive as they ever were. (my coffee breaks are now the unplanned results of rebooting) I just hope MOTU is quick with the bug fixes.buzzsmith wrote:As I mentioned in another thread, I think I'm just gonna go for it with 8 so this is now even more inconsequential.
