WARNING: DP8 kills export options etc in DP7 [work-around]
After installing DP8 I can no longer export in DP7 using my export-settings. I now get, "None of the selected Soundbites are supported by the export format". Many of the exprt options are gone. Plus I can no longer export mp3s and I can only export with the bit and sample rate that the file is currently (no conversion-on-export dialogue shows up when i export, as it did before). I can export normally from DP8, but for many reasons I think it's going to be quite some time before I'm able to use DP8. From searching around, it looks like the DP8 install moves some things.
Can anyone tell me how to restore these settings?
Thanks!
EDIT: I replaced the content of the MOTU Audio Export folder on my MacPro, with the 8 install, with the contents of MOTU Audio Export folder of my laptop, with only 7 installed, and all my export and BTD options are back and working in 7! I haven't put 7 through its paces yet, but this appears to be a work-around. I simply keep folders on my desktop that contain either the Audio Export files and Reverse plugin from 7 OR 8 depending on which version of DP I'm NOT using.

Re: BTD and export settings are now gone in DP7
Ahh, now here's where the fun begins. All the export options are still in DP8, but installing DP8 "removes" most of the export options from DP 7.24! Not good. I just this morning found this out, after completing a project in DP8 that was started in DP 7.24.
I have NO idea how to restore them in DP 7.24. This another bug that MOTU really must face.

Re: BTD and export settings are now gone in DP7
I'm thinking the install must have moved them, but from where to where I do not know. Hopefully they can be moved back whence they came, or better, copied back to where 7 looks for them, so we can export from both versions.

Re: Warning: DP8 kills export options in DP7
I'm in the same boat.
DP8 is still a bit wonky so I'm still gonna work in DP7 for a while (for critical projects-- which for now is most of them).
Got LAME working in DP8, and it's not there in DP7. I guess I can reinstall the lib thingy-bopper for DP7 and see if it sticks.

Its not just LAME that's gone for me, its nearly all the Quicktime export options.stubbsonic wrote:I'm in the same boat.

Also, just noticed the Reverse off-line plugin is gone from 7 too

Re: Warning: DP8 kills export options in DP7
The Reverse plugin is in the MAS folder and selected in the prefs in DP. I wonder if the one DP8 installed is incompatible with 7. …although the one that got installed with 8 is version 1.1.1. Created Sept. 2009.

Re: WARNING: DP8 kills export options and more in DP7
The mackie control driver is also "broken" by DP8. It works for DP8 (32 Bits or 64Bits) but doesn't with DP7.
DP7's driver works with only DP8 32Bits.

Re: Warning: DP8 kills export options in DP7
Reverse was never a real-time plug AFAIK. It could only be "applied" to a soundbite.dix wrote:Also, just noticed the Reverse real-time plugin is gone from 7 too

Re: WARNING: DP8 kills export options and more in DP7
Gah! Brain fart. I meant off-line plugin NOT realtime. The offline Reverse plugin is now gone in 7 after installing 8. ...sorry for the confusion!

Re: WARNING: DP8 kills export options and more in DP7
Solution - finish up your DP 7.24 project. Then open it in DP8. Export
whatever bounces or real-time mixdowns you did (and whatever else you
want to export) from DP8's soundbites window.

Re: WARNING: DP8 kills export options and more in DP7
Thanks. Yeah, I thought of that. Actually, Open in External Editor is a little simpler without quitting DP. DSP-Quatro (or whatev) can reverse soundbites and do the exports. Still a huge PIA!David Polich wrote:Solution - finish up your DP 7.24 project. Then open it in DP8. Export

Re: WARNING: DP8 kills export options and more in DP7
Just spoke to MOTU. They say to go back to 7, you need to trash 8 and reinstall 7 from the install disk (and then update to 7.24). In other words you can not have both 7 and 8 on the same drive if you want the export options etc. in 7
