You shouldn't have to do that with your plugs if you're saving plug-in sets in the Audio Plug-Ins preferences because DP7 stores its prefs in a different place than DP8. Disable Waves v8 plugs in DP9 in DP8's Audio Plug In prefs, and disable Waves v9 in DP7's prefs.nightwatch wrote:Hey James - The Themes folder is the only MOTU folder/file that needs to be unique to each DP7 and DP8 to be able to use both versions? Just confirming before I install.James Steele wrote:When you copy the DP7 versions back, you might overwrite the newer DP8 versions that won't work in DP8. You should probably just install DP8 and then download this:
http://motunation.com/files/DP7-Format-Themes.zip
I renamed the themes adding "DP7 " as a prefix, so you can just copy these into your Themes folder and they will be available to DP 7.24 without overwriting newer versions required for DP8.
I'll have to do the same thing with my Waves plugins too. i.e. move v8 and v9 back and forth before I launch DP7 or 8.
Thanks

My BTD and export settings are now gone in 7 as are many of the export options. ….as described here: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... =1&t=51334. I'm not sure how to protect those. I'll report back if I learn how.

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
Also, the Reverse offline-plugin is gone from 7 after installing 8!
I highly recommend anyone planning or hoping to continue to work in DP7 not install DP8.

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
Hey, I replaced the content of the MOTU Audio Export folder on my MacPro, with the 8 install, with the contents of MOTU Audio Export folder of my laptop, with only 7 installed, and all my export and BTD options are back and working in 7! Same goes for the Reverse plugin. Replacing the version that 8 installed with the one 7 installed restores Reverse. I haven't put 7 through its paces yet, but this appears to be a work-around. I simply keep folders on my desktop that contain either the Audio Export files and Reverse plugin from 7 OR 8 depending on which version of DP I'm NOT using.

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
I'm actually installing DP8 right now for the first time. This is all you did? Duplicated the Audio Export folder and the Revere plug-in and then put it back into DP 8?dix wrote:Hey, I replaced the content of the MOTU Audio Export folder on my MacPro, with the 8 install, with the contents of MOTU Audio Export folder of my laptop, with only 7 installed, and all my export and BTD options are back and working in 7! I'm gonna lose a few 32bit plugins, (not ones I use a lot though) but I can boot DP8 in 32bit so that's cool.
I'm just worried about Kontakt without a host program. Ok, here goes nothin..... I'm as prepared as I can be.

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
Mackie Control files and Theme templates also need to be protected if you want to be able to go back to 7.
…so i've read. since neither concern me, i don't know which or where you'd find them. sorry.

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
I think I did this correctly, but it didn't work for me.Radiogal wrote:Save the DP7 Themes folder.
DP8 will overwrite and move them.
Return them into the DP7 folder after you installed DP8.
Prior to the 8 install, I clicked on 7.22 to show package contents, found the Themes folder and copied to another hard drive.
After the 8 install, I moved that copied folder back to it's original location within the 7.22 package.
However, DP7 would not see them, only the 8 group and I could not choose any of them as they were grayed out.
It did leave the one I had been using, however.
FWIW...

Re: Which DP7 files to protect?
James posted a special download link for this that he got from MOTU. He put it somewhere on the MN and that should work to repair the Themes back into DP7.

Thanks, Patricia. I saw that somewhere and will do later.Radiogal wrote:James posted a special download link for this that he got from MOTU. He put it somewhere on the MN and that should work to repair the Themes back into DP7.
I'm trying to work in 8 as it appears that 8 opens 7 files, and 7 opens 8 files, so it's really not a big "issue".
I am a little concerned about the apparent memory usage displayed in 8's Performance window, but I haven't had time to see if it's truly representative of actual use or just a miscalculated graph.
