V Rack

Post by Mauisun »

aloha !! ok after setting up my various intruments in the vrack via the chunks window .........is it still nesesary to still bring in an instrument track on each sequence for each instrument?

the reason im asking is because after recordng a MIDI track and acessing the sounds via the v rack ...i still need to "bounce" the track and print it to an audio track....riight? ...so i know the theory about the vrack...kinda like a central host so the session doesnt look and process everytime it sees an instrument track........

mmmmmm .... i thinking while im typing here.....mmmmmmmm

maybe i set the input in my new audio track to the specified v rack?

then print?

suggestions?

a good way to work is to make a clipping of your v-rack(or clippings of severasl different v-racks) and simply drag them into your chunks window as needed........the instruments will be there in the v-rack and the v-rack can then be "activated" (in the chunks widow) for each chunk you want to use.
hope I didn't convolute this explanation too much.............

I don't think that really answered the question - namely, how do you freeze a V-rack track?

1st question was: "aloha !! ok after setting up my various intruments in the vrack via the chunks window .........is it still nesesary to still bring in an instrument track on each sequence for each instrument? "

my answer: a good way to work is to make a clipping of your v-rack(or clippings of several different v-racks) and simply drag them into your chunks window as needed........the instruments will be there in the v-rack and the v-rack can then be "activated" (in the chunks widow) for each chunk you want to use.

right answer to the question??? Freezing was not this question!

Since "bouncing" the instrument track is mentioned then it is indeed
part of the question.

I'm not sure I'm following the difference of opinion, but it appears maybe that bmiller may not realize that just trying to freeze a track with a V-Rack in it is not that simple, because it is grayed out in the menu. You have to go to a couple of extra steps (provided by MOTU via Mr. Falk) to make that happen.

Incidentally, this thread just contributed two tips to the tip sheet. Thanks to SDFalk and bmiller360, though I felt it necessary to credit Falk's tip to MOTU's TechNotes, since I copied it verbatim off their website.
