Not yet. I'd be surprised if a solution didn't present itself. It's only been a couple of day that we've been scrambling. Also, can't Soundflower bring audio into DP?

frankymax wrote:you can get VE Pro 5 at Sweetwater for $240. I have Bidule and I just got VEP and I really love VEP. Really solid piece of software, I think. You can also use it both 32 and 64 bit I believe, having 2 instances - one in 32 bit and one in 64 bit.

Yes, when you load VEPro into DP you can specify 32 or 64 bit. You can actually have both running at the same time as far as I know. VEPro works great in DP8, no issues for me!

Re: DP 8 and Bidule SOLVED!!!

Post by rikp »

Thanks so much to Randy Knaub for helping me to figure this out.

Here it is, thanks to Randy's phone call.

Make sure you have ReWire bundle 1.8.3 installed in:

On your main hard drive:
Library-Application Support-Propellerhead Software-Rewire (also make sure that only one version of ReWire.bundle is installed. Note: You also need to REMOVE Plogue Bidule Engine.bundle.

Repeat the above process on your user library folder as well.

Just to clarify, you should have two instances of Rewire.bundle, one in each rewire library location: Main hard drive library and user library.

Launch your 64 bit Bidule. Go to preferences, Rewire, and make sure you have checked the Enable Rewire Mixer box, the Rewire Stereo Channels box, and specified your Rewire MIDI ports, Rewire Channels.

Close Bidule.

Launch DP (make sure that you have set up an aux track with Bidule as an input device.
Now launch Bidule and you should be good to go.

If you know Randy Knaub be sure to thank him. He actually called me to talk me through this!
What a great guy :headbang:

I did not try the 32 bit version. But please let me know Dave.

Actually, everyone should be thanking Randy Knaub, he is the brainchild behind this solution!

OK- Rik or anyone, help me with this one. Rik, your post said to load Rewire bundle 1.8.3- I just went to the Plogue website and downloaded the latest version of Bidule for Mac (32 & 64 bit versions) and the rewire bundle included says its version 1.8.1, and here's the read me info:

"This is the very latest ReWire shared library, this mainly adds 64-bit support
to ReWire meaning that 64-bit applications can now be ReWire mixer.

Please take note that this new version with only work on Intel Macs, this version will
not work at all on PowerPC Macs. This should work for 10.5.8 and following versions
of OS X. Please take note that while this is deemed ready to be released
to the public by Propelleheads, Plogue has no control or way to know if
all ReWire mixers will work exactly the same with regard to ReWire functionalities
with this new version.

In case the rest wasn't clear: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NEED FOR THIS, DON'T INSTALL IT! "
-----
So, where do I find the 1.8.3 Rewire bundle or will 1.8.1 work?

Thanks for any clarification on this!

Dave- you can download and use Bidule from Plogue for free for @ 2 months, then you have to pay for it so give it a try!
