I don't think so. Cuemix already has a talkback system in place, using an external mic that you plug into the interface. Using the iPad mic would mean having to send audio over the air with control stuff, and get converted back in the interface, which was probably not a feature designed into it.

You can already control all this in Cuemix with Mackie Control (or emulation), but being able to do it on the iPad is going to make it very useful in my "Studio B", where I have an Ultralite..

I set it all up, and it's a pretty nice deal, but I'm not just blown away by it. For one thing, if I use four fingers on four faders, it's very hard to get it to recognize that I'm moving faders and not sliding the window up to reveal the active app dock below it. Your fingers have to be just perfectly placed, and even then I'm not sure it will work. But that's not a huge deal. I found myself accidentally touching a lot of controls and messing up what I had, which does not happen with DPControl or V-Control.

Also, my units are older. I have the 2408mkII and a 1296, plus an 896. They are all legacy boxes, though the 2408mkII and the 1296 at least get to use the CueMix FX for the PCI 424 card. No CueMix for the 896. So, I'm looking at the TouchOSC app on the iPad, and I realize that it doesn't have even half the features and options that are being shown in the manual. It's because these are legacy boxes. Most of the great features of the modern CueMix are simply not there for these old boxes.

I do not regret having it; it's a big plus to be able to change the hardware on the fly by remote, but I wish my boxes were more up to date!

OK, following up on my own question, MOTU tech support indicated that this should work for me and to use a mkii template. I just bit the bullet and spent the $5 on TouchOSC.

Good news: it works. Thanks MOTU! For me, it's great to be able to control input gain settings on cuemix from my ipad over wifi.

I use DP Control to start and stop ("pause") recordings. But, that seems to crash cuemix when switching apps on the ipad, so, hmmm...maybe I need another ipad.

-------------ORIGINAL POST FOLLOWS:
So, with a Traveler (original version), could I use this to control CueMixDSP? Or, does it just not work at all?

I have read the PDF manual (CueMix-FX-TouchOSC-for-iPad.pdf) and the MOTU website, both of which suggest my Traveler is not supported. However, the MOTU downloads page indicates that "Supported legacy MOTU products include the...828, 828mkII, 896, 896HD, Traveler, and the UltraLite."

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks,
Jim

you can use cue mix fx with 2408 mk2 and mk3 ? i thought the fx were only for new interfaces, don't use cue mix because i have a mixer.

The TouchOSC templates are only for CueMixFX, not CueMixDSP so it appears Traveler version 1 is not supported.

And Cue Mix PCI-424... Used it already (2408mk3). Works fine, except setting pan to zero... missing the double-tap function there. Shure this will be in the next fixes..

My Traveler MK3 is also supported and works fine.

Turn of ios gestures and multitouch works fine.

Making an iPhone template and have trodden into trouble. Seems that one need to make controllers in groups of eight to get things working. I still haven't found a way to adress single channels directly. Hope they make that possible in a future update.

Here's a link to the template I'm working on for my 828 MKIII. It's for the iPhone/iPad.
