MDD 2 x 1.2 - USB 2 PCI card problem

My Sonnet Allegro USB 2 PCI card is acting weird... ( same happened with a no name card.
Booted from 10.4.11, data transfer from an ext. WD USB disk onto an internal ATA is freezing ...
Booted from 10.5.8, data transfer from an ext. WD USB disk onto an internal ATA works fine...
The 1 TB ext. WD drive has 3 partitions, same size :
HFS+
NTFS
FAT32
It is also used on WIN XP and WIN7...
Any clues ? No sleep modes...
