Arrow Key to select track to record on in the tracks window

Post by timmeh »

I normally am able to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll up and down the track list with record enable but for some reason cannot at the moment, is there a setting that I can change to enable this feature?

Very occasionally this happens to me. It seems to be on projects that have large MIDI track numbers. This is idle speculation. It's never hindered me enough to spend the time finding the cause.
Cheers, Bolla.

There was something a couple of years ago that I found, where some other command had taken the up/down arrows and was preempting its former use as record-enable. I had to find that command and change it so that the record-enabling with arrow keys would continue to work.

To find what commands use the arrow keys, go to the Commands Window, and attempt to add an arrow key to any existing command. You'll see a dialog showing the command(s) to which that key is currently assigned. It's up to you to delete any unwanted ones.

The "Record Enable Previous/Next Track" commands
I have these commands setup to other keys and I've never encountered this problem. Try setting it up to anything else to see if it still happens.

Thanks for all the tips. It turns out that a folder that was closed had a bunch of audio tracks set to record enable therefore prohibiting me from being able to use the arrows keys to move up and down.

DP wins on account of an USER FAIL. Hahaha, oh well at least I figured out what was going on.

Uh-oh. Guess that could do it. Well, it was only a temporary fail. User won in the end.

This exact thing happened to me just the other day, another good reason to put a "record enabled tracks" indicator on closed folders. If you don't have multi-record turned on, it doesn't matter, but, I always do.
