Everything I am doing is on my 2010 iMac 2.93 i7 Quad, upgraded yesterday from 8G to 20G RAM.
I have three others, a 2009 & 2010 21.5" belonging to my daughters and a 2011 27" for my wife.
The 2011 is pretty sluggish with Word 2008 which she uses a lot. Part of the reason I upgraded my RAM was so that I could throw the extra 4G into her machine. She gets upgraded next to see if Word performance is improved.
Safari? Yes it's better but only because it has incorporated many features from Chrome. Chrome is much faster and launches in much less time over ML. If you deal with pdf files over the internet, you will not believe how much faster Chrome is. There is an 800 page file I must access and search every day - takes 5-12 minutes in Safari but 1 second or less in Chrome. Safari does some things better but nothing I need daily. Some commerce sites only work with Firefox - still.
>BTW, there is a DSP Quattro update for ML. Usually, an email notification arrives, but I didn't get one this time.<
I haven't tried DSP Quatro in ML yet. I just bought it a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the heads up. I may get to it this afternoon.

Yes, Chrome is really fast in ML. I wish it didn't keep trying to pushing Google apps, but the speed makes it worth trying for a few days.mikehalloran wrote:Chrome is much faster and launches in much less time over ML. Re: Mountain Lion Released Today
I view my music computer as more or less a sealed appliance once I get it running. I'll take point releases so I'm on 10.6.8, but that machine is going to stay SL until I retire it. It works. It can stay working. There is no compelling reason to upgrade it.
Of course, I have the luxury of having a music computer and a different machine for personal use.

Re: Mountain Lion Released Today
I was one of those who purchased a new Mac computer when the cycle was nearing its end. I had no other choice because it would have been a toss up between getting a new one or sticking with using nothing for the moment so I indulged into getting a new one. It was great that I would be able to take the upgrade for free though I think that the hardware advantages would equally be as nice, just like that.
Re: Mountain Lion Released Today
Excited with this release, actually but I am looking on what real advantages this version sports over the earlier releases. They were saying that the Lion was intended for those who just need the support for almost all entities but I think that this is pretty much like what happened from the jump with Leopard to snow Leopard.
