File Recovery in AudioDesk

Hello all. After a quick search of topics I didnt find anything specific to my problem, though I'm sure people have dealt with this before:

I recorded several multitrack songs in audio desk and only had partial backups when my powerbook crashed because of an error in ram. At the time I was away from home and had no choice but to back up the data over a network to the one and only Windows pc my sister had. When I transferred the files back to the repaired powerbook, the file types appeared altered to unix executable or other random file type. The tracks I know are Mono in AIFF format at 24/96 however if I append the file extension AIFF, audiodesk attempts to open it, but then does nothing. This also happens if I try to import the file into the soundbites window.

Is there any way for me to recover the audio data? I have the feeling the data is lost for good, but if there is any suggestion of how to recover just the tracks I would be willing to try anything.

It looks as though the data is lost.

The file format is actually Sound Designer II and the problem is that when the files were copied to a FAT32 partition the resource forks were lost. I am attempting to pirate the resource files from other audio desk projects using ResEdit with no success.

Ive had exactly the same problem as you. What worked for me was opening the SDII's (they will be sdii's as you have stated) in Wavelab on a PC and savingthem as aiff (with file extension) then copy back to Mac. Dont quote me on this - I think Quicktime pro could do the same thing. Good luck!

I too have had an isssue with lost audio files.

I did about 20 multitrack songs for a local band for demo purposes last month. i did some editing & mixing on the files early this month. When I went to open them up to work on them some more, all but two of the songs had all the audio files mising. when i open up the song, everything is there ( edits, fades eq, etc) but no audio files. the folders for the Audio files are there but the actual audio recorded files are gone. I have tried "Data rescue" but had no luck. They were recorded to SCSI drive and then backed up to an external firewire which is where I did the editng. both set of files have the mising files. i supect i had replaced the originals with the edited versions some time along the way

I have a mac G4 Tiger 10.4.2.

Any ideas on how they wrer lost and how i might find them.
