Thanks Wonder...I guess the magazine as a source is a bit on the decline when compared to the wealth of info you can get from the web. I used to subscribe to Mix but I get more info from their online version. I'll check out sound on sound.

Thanx!

I think sound on sound is the best of the crop. It's the only magazine I can't get for free!!

If you check out Primedia.com, they have several subscriptions that most pros can get for free, including Mix and a few others dedicated to sound, video, staging, etc. You can't beat 'em for the price. I've only read one issue of Tape Op, and I should buy a subscription, because it looked more devoted to readers than advertisers (which the free mags are there for).

You get them by buying gear and filling out the Registration cards and sending them in. Then the manufacturers sell their customer lists to magazine publishers, who send free rags to known legit buyers.

I get sound on sound for free. got it a long time ago and i am still getting it for free now. :p
they dont seeem to alow new free subscriptions anymore though...

i think with most these mags, its a matter of calling from a well known company/studio who is likley to purchase on a large scale based on stuff read in the mag.
