Traveller Mk3 CueMix FX crashing when using input EQ

Post by Electricbacfac »

Hi
My Traveller MK3 is attached to a octo pre via ADAT 1 input and I am experiencing severe crashing of Cuemix fx when using the input EQ across the 8 adat inputs. It is rendering the set up useless as I have to reboot to fix it. It also happens when recording.
Are other people having issues with CueMix?
I can not find many internet posts regarding the MK3. I wonder how popular it is...

Any way it seems to be Cuemix fx that is the buggy software..

Any ideas... Thanks...

In fact it seems that it is when I enable EQ on input Adat A 7 that it crashes and sends all metering to full scale. No discernible audio though.

It would seem that it is just adding an 8th EQ causes this and not a specific slot. I have replicated the problem now by engaging an output EQ.

I wonder if adding a stereo EQ would be OK.?

It's frustrating as there is still a good 50% left on the DSP usage meter.

And of course this problem makes me reluctant to use this unit as part of my professional mobile recording rig.

I would be very interested if any one else can replicate the problem as well. Just try enabling EQ slots. I added 8 across a drum kit on ADAT A input coming from an Octo pre. It was adding the 8th that caused the problem.

Thanks

Have you sent this to Tech Support?

If it is this consistent, I would think that Engineering should be taking a look. Just a thought... I hope you find a solution.

The 828 Mk3 manual says there is enough DSP power to put at least one band of parametric EQ and one compressor on every input and output, but reading carefully, it doesn't look like you can do this while reverb is on too, and it makes no promises about multiple EQ bands. Any chance you have multiple EQ bands, multiple compressors and limiters, and reverb all running but not being used? (I know that doesn't explain the DSP meter).

UPDATE: I tried this. I was able to turn on one eq band and a compressor on every input and output channel on the 828. DSP went to about 75%. But one interesting thing: I accidentally turned on a levellers instead of a compressor on one channel, and that used up a lot more DSP. With the leveller on, when I got to the last few channels, the panel where you turn on the effects gave a warning that there was not enough DSP left to turn on any more effects.

Seems unlikely that DSP is the problem since there is a warning before you hit the limit.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't know how to get in touch with tech support.
If you have an email I'll forward this to them, thanks.

The problem persists and has been with me since the start.
I don't usually have need of the eq though, but now that I'm tracking drums via ADAT A input, I would use 8 eq's on inputs.
I continue to experience crashes.
Tonight I booted up and crashed within a minute.
Since then it has been stable for a couple of hours.
I am not able to use eq on ADAT A i/p 7 though - the floor tom. Shame as I could nail down a nasty resonance and thicken the bottom end if it was on.
I do like the Traveller MK3 EQ. But reliability is everything too me.

I'm pretty sure this is not a running out of DSP issue.
I am using reverb with the split point set to mixes.
Leveller is on for Headphone output to raise the o/p level.

cheers
