Im using a maudio octane for a preamp, going into my 2408mk2, in order for me not to have the meters on the 2408 red lining, I have to have my preamp turned down to where it barely registers. Is cuemix somehow able to be set so that it controls the input levels of the 2408? or some how a setting in cubase to do it?
any help greatly appreciated
how to adjust levels on 2408?

You should have a pad button to use in Cuemix. Enable it.
If not, look for the boost button to use and/or -10dB/+4dB buttons.

Here's what my cuemix looks like, I can't find any sort of pad button like you said
I do realize it's all 0'd right now, but it down matter if i turn up the gain knob or not...or turn the fader or whatnot....my 2408 still is independent

Not sure how your specific unit works because I don't have the trim like you do - but you should try setting that on and tweak the knob up - it probably acts as an attenuator - but instead though, it may act as an unwanted boost.
The M-Audio is probably just too hot and needs to be tweaked.
