MIDI CC Control of Plug-Ins in DP: Scope Clarification

Post by bulghur »

I am on DP 5.13 and have a number of AU plug-ins that support MIDI CC of parameters as "supported by host" (host = DP) which I would like to control using an external controller (M-Audio Axiom 49 or some other devices).

MIDI learn in DP 5.13 directly, through the console or other methods is incomplete and dodgy. I am thinking about upgrading to DP 7 or 8 (prefer 7 since it is baked) and it is unclear of the scope of MIDI learn/control supported in these updates. Reviews (e.g. Sound on Sound) is just as vague as MOTU on the scope of CC Learn. Moreover, getting an clear answer from the MOTU Politburo and propaganda apparatus lies dormant in a field of improbability.

Does anyone have some practical experience with the level of control afforded on the new versions and what types of plug-in are supported (AU, VST, VST3, etc.)?
