Is there no DP 8 thread yet??

Post by tcastle »

What do you think of the DP 8 preview stuff...?

Nice that the Windoz folks can now play. Nice that 64 bit is an option... Call me an old fa*t, but I have never had trouble punching in where I wanted to punch in... and then been able to live with the consequences if I was early or late.

Without any actual information, seems to me that DP 8 is not ready for prime time. I'm just getting used to 7.24, which I like a lot.

Missed the barrage earlier this year? Do a search, plenty of DP 8 threads and comments from some MOTU folks as well as I recall. And heck, if all you want to do is punch in/out you don't need DP. Garageband can handle that (I think?) LOL!

Kind of a passive aggressive post you have there...

Where's the beef?
I'm a vegetarian so meat isn't ready for primetime.

Really? REALLY?

Did you write that stuff yourself, or did someone help you with it?

It can! Says so in Garageband for Dummies.

Uh, it took me no time to figure out that he meant the "new" punch in/out features in DP8.

Seriously, this board is very patient about DP8 coming out.
Try going to the Ableton forums and doing a search for "Live 9", and it's not even announced yet!

Yeah, I got that too. It's the "not ready for prime time" hyperbole that kind of annoys me. Totally unfounded and deserving of a rebuttal.

Yeah I hear ya. Let's debate possible stability issues in DP8, that makes about as much sense.

I'm not sure I need your permission or approval to say that DP 8 looks like 7.25 that can play with Windows. It doesn't look like it's offering much new.

I think it's funny that I've annoyed you MLC. That's the best reply you could have written... !! You've made this a happy fun day for me for sure.

Hey, there's someone here on the internet I disagree with. Let me take time to straighten him out. hahahahaha

I don't presume to offer permission and that never entered into my mind. Apparently this seems to have occurred only to you. That's fine. Feel free to defend your position from a place of insecurity while attempting to get sympathetic support from like minded persons. Clearly they are flocking to your side Keep looking backwards, my friend. Punching out...... NOW! (oooopps... too soon?)

This just gets better and better...

I'm not defending anything. I stated my opinion that DP 8 looks like a weak entry. Thanks for your energetic reply.

Aren't you one of the defenders of 10.6.8... speaking of looking backwards?

Back away from caffeinated beverages MLC!

But, again, it's always good to hear from you!!

Well, being an energetic and enthusiastic DP 7.24 user, I am waiting eagerly for the not insignificant additions and improvements with DP8. There is plenty enough in there to keep me upgrading, especially the enormously improved video playback features.

And it might one day be useful to have PC compatibility, you never know!

Updating and upgrading my systems is a daily thing for me, I like to keep current..... although I strangely haven't made the jump from PT 9 to 10, but then I haven't needed it much recently!

Cheers

We need to give an intellectual age test for posting. Early than 6 year old intellect deserves its own section.

Do keep digging, however.

So you've determined DP 8 DOA based on your fantasy that all it offers is better punch in/out and 64 bit. Any other constructive, empirical observations?

Check out some of the comments on Lion elsewhere on the board. You do know how to do a search, don't you? Have you looked for the DP 8 threads yet? I didn't think so. But again, do keep digging.

ps... I neither defend nor attack software. That was YOUR starting point

And the purpose of your thread is exactly what? What kind of a response were you looking for? Try looking under the bridges.
