Quicktime audio latency....

Post by rpmusic »

All of a sudden the audio track in my quicktime movie is not in sync...I've never had a problem with this until this latest project. It's a 1/2 hr animation and the audio track is behind...it's almost like I'm runnning out thru firewire-but it's directly on a second 23" monitor. Does anyone know if there are any issues wiith Tiger or QT7? My work around has been to export the audio into the timeline but the beauty in the past has been having the QT without having to go thru any extra steps. Any help would be appreciated

When you first Edit/Select All/ Copy. Did you have the selection borders not "select all". When you " added to movie' did you
have the selection borders not set to beginning.

Go to kenstone.com and search. Good Luck

I'm still working on my QT knowlege also

I started having this same latency problem too ever since I updated to 4.6 and it is very annoying. It's disorienting to try and write music around dialog when the audio I'm hearing isn't really when it is supposed to be. Is anyone else having this issue? I know two other people who have DP 4.6 and they are both having the same exact consistant problem.

Same issues here. First I thought it has something to do with latency compensation not working right when using QT, but maybe it's something else. I never had this problem with 4.52 and QT 6.x.

Well, looks like we are all in this together now.
BUT the question is, when you bounced the track back out, does DP compensate for the latency and everything become happy again?

Yes I have the same problem. And the delay of the audio will change each time you play it back, regardless of the location in the file, evne if you play back the same spot. Yes I don't remember it either with earlier DP or QT. Ther's no problem if I use the imported audio tracks, but it means doing that with each new cue. What a drag.

I don't know if this well make you all feel better or worse, but I think it is a QT problem and not a DP problem.

I record show off my TiVo to my powerbook using my digital camera and quicktime, and the audio won't sink up at all. I have to save is as an audio file and then play it back over the muted movie. Its a real pain in the ass.

I haven't bounce to a QT file in DP yet but I suspect it would be the same thing.....

just to let you guys know, I've had the same problem with quicktime on its own outside of DP......the clip I was watching was an .avi clip and I had to download a couple of 3rd party apps to line the audio back up with the video, after that the audio was normal but the picture quality had changed for the worse. I don't know if that helps any, if you'd like let me know and I can forward the links......

BTW, I've found out that it's a DP and Quicktime 7 issue and that MOTU is aware of the problem and working on it.
